Pune Gears Up For Palkhi 2025: List Of Key Routes, Traffic Advisory Issued
Last Updated: Pune is preparing for the Palkhi processions on June 19 and 20 this year Thousands of devotees are expected to arrive for Pune's annual Palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj on June 19 and 20. In preparation, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued detailed safety and traffic guidelines. The advisory aims to manage the large crowds drawn by this deeply respected tradition observed by pilgrims from all over Maharashtra. As part of the advisory, 1,494 hoarding agencies within PCMC limits have been asked to check and strengthen their hoardings, especially those along the Palkhi routes, according to Times Now. Since large crowds are expected, officials have emphasised the importance of making sure these structures are safe. The PCMC has also warned that any agency found careless about safety may face strict action. The PCMC has reportedly shared a list of main routes under its limits that will be used for the Palkhi processions to help people stay informed. These routes include: Nigdi to Dapodi, Dehu to Alandi, and Dighi to Bopkhel. Heavy foot traffic is expected on these roads, and residents are advised to avoid travelling through these areas unless necessary during the procession days. Palkhi Procession 2025: Real-Time Updates The Pune Police will provide live updates on the Palkhi's movement through their official social media handles. For information on traffic conditions and alternative routes during the procession, people can visit: To manage the Palkhi processions smoothly, the PCMC, along with local police, is putting traffic diversions and extra security measures in place. Roads along the main routes will have closures, detours, and no-parking zones to avoid traffic jams and ensure safe passage for devotees. Concerned officials are also preparing crowd management steps, such as deploying marshals and setting up first-aid teams at important points. Residents and businesses along the procession paths are urged to support these efforts by staying updated on road changes and following safety guidelines to help the event run safely and efficiently. Palkhi 2025: Know More About It The Palkhi processions go beyond tradition—they are a powerful expression of faith and unity, reflecting Maharashtra's rich devotional culture. Pilgrims march together, singing devotional songs (abhangas) and carrying the symbolic footwear of saints Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar as a mark of respect and humility. As preparations continue, the PCMC has assured that the 2025 Palkhi will be both spiritually fulfilling and safely managed. The film, a heart-wrenching portrayal of Johannesburg's homeless, won Best Creation. The short film Don't Give Up, starring Khumalo, produced by Singh and written and directed by Darrell Roodt, won the festival's Golden Nymph Award in the Best Creation category. The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, 17 June and in attendance were Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, who presented two awards. The free festival is open to everyone and runs over five days, culminating with the closing ceremony and the Golden Nymph presentation. 'One day, while washing her sons at a tap in a bus depot, Faith is assaulted by a security guard. In her bid to escape this battering, she and her sons try to run away, but Siyabonga gets caught in the wire fence and almost has his thumb ripped off. Faith is unable to help him beyond wrapping it up in a torn piece of her skirt. She begs for money from disinterested commuters on her corner,' reads the synopsis. Watch the trailer here. Accepting the award, Khumalo thanked the festival, the Videovision team and director Darrell Roodt 'who came up with this amazing project.' She continued: 'And I thank Anant for always believing in me and for always having faith in me. After bringing her home, they named the munchkin Dishani. She is close to both her parents and decided to walk in the footsteps of her father to become an actress. As for her education, Dishani moved to Los Angeles for further studies after finishing her early education in India. She graduated in acting from the New York Film Academy and went on to make her acting debut in Hollywood with Gift. Her last role was in The Guest in 2022, which garnered her applause. Earlier, during a media interaction, Dishani spoke about debuting in Hollywood, admitting that it was not an easy task. She said, 'Choosing the unconventional path of starting my career in Los Angeles hasn't been the easiest journey. I've grown up learning so much from my father and I hope to showcase that through my work." On the personal front, Dishani is dating a person named Myles Mantzaris. On 25 April 2017, Vir's Netflix special Abroad Understanding was released, in the process becoming the first Indian comedian with a comedy special on the platform. In June 2017 Das was named one of Variety's '10 Comics to Watch for 2017." In December 2018, Das released his second Netflix comedy special, entitled Losing It. In 2019, Das released his travel-cum-comedy show Jestination Unknown where he explores how Indians see humour along with a couple of other stand-up comedians and celebrities.
